AMSA Premed is the undergraduate branch of the American Medical Student Association, a grass-roots organization with local chapters at almost every medical school in the nation, and pre-medical chapters at many universities.

We operate differently than most pre-med groups on campus and we feel that this is our biggest strength. We are not trying to "pad" resumes. We simply want to offer UT students the benefits found in connecting with medical students, and offer programs not found on campus. We want to guide all prospective students in their quest for medical school.

At our meetings we have speakers or we hold debates on hot topics concerning a variety of aspects related to the medical field. Our speakers are not your typical speakers: in the past we have hosted a lecture on medical malpractice, and another on dying with dignity. We have held forums on topics such as the legalization of marijuana, affirmative action in medical schools, and managed care. Additionally, members of AMSA Premed can attend the regional and national conferences of AMSA.

If any of this is of interest to you or to someone you know, you are more than welcome in this organization. Just come to one of our meetings with an open mind and an avid interest in the field of medicine, and see what you think.
